They are also called Knitting Bowls or Wool Bowls. They are also decorative for storing yarn while not in use.Your yarn is fed evenly through a spiral cutout slot in the side of the bowl. Inside of the bowl is smooth to prevent tangles and let it feed smoothly as it unravels. It is most beneficial if you pull your yarn from the outside of the ball. Skeins must be rolled into a ball before placing in the yarn bowl. If you like working with yarn cakes, they work better if you pull from the outside as they turn easily as you go.
